The post and beam house offers comfort and convenience of a full private house all tucked into 500 square feet of interior space – and a 400 square foot deck view a view across the valley to Cornell.
With a full kitchen and comfortable sleeping for five, the post and beam house is a versatile base for your visit to Ithaca. The second floor loft has a queen size TempurPedic bed with cantilevered stone bedside tables and a cherry lingerie chest. The loft extends over the living room to give you a sitting area with a massive chair covered with a six-pelt sheepskin – if the “Game Of Thrones” characters were each given one of these, no one would want to fight anymore for that throne made of swords! This is the chair you want to sit in to read the Icelandic Sagas (or maybe a Steven King novel). Best of all, this Finnish organic chair, opens out to become a very comfortable twin size bed!
Downstairs there is an American made sleeper sofa – but not the kind with bars and springs, this one feels like a TempurPedic when made up with all cotton sheets and covered with a down blanket tucked in a duvet cover (all stored in the Harvey Ellis shirtwaist chest which doubles as a cocktail table). To the side of the sofa is a drop leaf table which doubles as an end table until you need it for a more formal dinner. There are also a couple of stools at the stone countertop between the kitchen and the living area.
The kitchen counters are hand-honed bluestone. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, under-counter refrigerator/freezer, range and oven, toaster, French press, tea, home-roasted and freshly ground coffee, and all the plates, utensils, glasses, mugs, pots and pans, etc. you might need. While we highly recommend sampling Ithaca’s fantastic restaurant offerings, sometimes a quiet home cooked dinner hits the spot. If you can use anything you don’t find in the kitchen – juicer, pasta maker, mixer, baking pans, etc., please let us know, as I’m sure I have two of almost everything!
The bathroom has a flush toilet, shower and sink as well as a clothes washer/dryer.
